World's first anti-tobacco treaty came into force three years ago - the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Russia did not ratify the document.
The countries that ratified the Convention were supposed to reorganize their legislation: to ban the tobacco advertising and smoking in public places, to place clearly visible warnings of health hazard on cigarette packs and try to decrease the number of smokers in their countries within five years.  read more »

  

A boy named Boris Kipriyanovich, or Boriska, lives in the town of Zhirinovsk of Russia’s Volgograd region. He was born on January 11, 1996. Since he was four he used to visit a well-known anomalous zone, commonly referred to as Medvedetskaya Gryada – a mountain near the town.    One of the world's most famous architects has been chosen to oversee the construction of The U2   Tower, reports ITN.
Norman Foster, the brains behind the Gherkin in London and the Millau Viaduct in France, was selected by Dublin's Docklands Development Authority.

He will now head-up the operation for the city's first ever skyscraper, which will reach a height of 120m and cost around 200 millions euros.

A group of engineers, designers and programmers at Hanson Robotics in Texas have created a 17-inch tall, 6-pound robot boy bearing the same name as the company's founder's 18-month-old son, Zeno.

Unlike Zeno the human boy, Zeno the robot can't speak or walk yet, but its blinking eyes can track people moving about and it has a face that captivates with a variety of expressions.  read more »
